MMDC’s events invite people to come together and explore all the exciting things that the District has to offer. The Medical District is home to some of Memphis’ most fascinating neighborhoods and public spaces. Our events and events grants showcase what the District has to offer.

HEALTH SCIENCES PARK
Activation of Health Sciences Park (HSP) in 2018 included events such as a free community movie night, an IRIS Orchestra concert series, and a free community spin class offered by the District’s Spincult. In addition, the park hosts Fridays in HSP, a free series with live music and food trucks that attracted 150 attendees in fall 2018. Fridays will continue in 2019 with live music in the spring and fall.
At this free community event people bring their dogs to the off-leash dog area in Edge Triangle, located at the corner of Madison Ave & N. Orleans. Yappy Hour is a great way to meet new friends — human and canine, in a fun and relaxed environment. Our October 2018 Halloween themed event had over 40 participants and 22 furry friends and featured adoptable dogs from Memphis Animal Services. Three dogs were adopted following the event.
IRIS Orchestra - Free Concerts
MMDC partnered with IRIS Orchestra to present free concerts on four consecutive Fridays in September and October 2018 at Health Sciences Park, as well as a finale concert at Treedom Memphis. Over 100 people attended these events. We will continue this program in 2019 – check back for updates on time and dates.
A partnership between the Memphis Medical District Collaborative and Downtown Memphis Commission, Freewheel is a free, fun, social opportunity to better understand a neighborhood’s history and assets by bike. “Slow rides” are group bicycle rides with a focus on community and neighborhoods. Freewheel is for everyone; all ages, all skill levels and every type of bike is welcome.
In 2018, MMDC partnered with Explore Bike Share to give riders the opportunity to try a bike share bicycle for free.
